At the Pikler® Approach Intensive I participated in last year (2023), we all felt immersed into the respectful atmosphere of the Lóczy Street Daycare Center, absorbing all the details. I didn’t think a book can offer a similar immersive experience, but “Guiding Babies and Toddlers at Daycare” by Hedie Meyling does.
This book describes a day in an (imaginary) daycare center through the eyes of a new intern, Hannah. In part 1, we get to meet the children, families, and educators and learn about the concepts alongside Hannah as the day unfolds; part 2 offers a deeper dive into the theory.
Highly recommended for anyone who works with young children and families and/or wants to learn more about the Pikler® Approach and respectful caregiving.
